United Nations Expresses Fears Over Nigeria’s Worsening State of Security!

The dailypost has reported that, the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, on Wednesday expressed concern over the continued violence and deteriorating security in North-eastern Nigeria.
Reacting to the declaration of a state of emergency in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states, the UN scribe through his spokesperson, Martin Nisirky, said the continued violence in the Northern region of the country was a threat to national peace and stability.

The statement said in part: “The secretary-general is aware of the decision by the Nigerian Government to declare a state of emergency in three north-eastern states of Nigeria.”
Ban who appealed to all extremist groups to cease their attacks, reiterated his firm conviction that “no objective could justify such use of violence.”
He called on government at all levels to fully respect human rights and safeguard the lives of all Nigerians.
